KSC Glock 19 Review

Thanx to Evolution Airsoft, I have managed to borrow one of KSC's newest gbb for review, the Glock 19. The Glock 19 is a shortened, more compact version of the famous Glock 17, which makes it an extremely effective concealed carry firearm. KSC is probably the number one airsoft Glock manufacture favoured by most airsoft players and this shouldn't be a suprise to anyone, from the release of the first Glock 17 to the newest Glock 19, each Glock was built to improve from the faults of the earlier versions. Ever since MGC went out of business, KSC has completely dominated the airsoft Glock market with it's powerful yet reliable gas blow back technology. While the Glock 17 and 18C totally reshaped the GBB market, the new Glock 19 completely out does itself from the other Glocks produced by KSC. Apparently Glock Inc. has warned KSC for illegally using their trademarks and have threatened to take legal actions, therefore there are no Glock trademarks on the new Glock 19.

Heavy Weight Frame

Although the gun lacks Glock trademarks, it has one awesome improvement that no other previous glock had, the heavy weight frame. This frame is literally solid as rock, with heavy weight material and high metal content mixed with the abs plastic, the end product is an extremely realistic and rock hard pistol. As many KSC glock owners can attest, some KSC glocks came with shiney frames that felt plasticky and slippery, it really didn't look or feel like the real thing. The new Glock 19 HW frame feels true to weight and the metallic feel to the grip makes it a very comfortable pistol.

The Glock 19 is the only Glock produced by KSC that does not have the famous Glock "G" logo, it is replaced with an awkward looking G that looks nothing like the real deal. Refer to the pictures on the right if neccessary. On the front side of the slide, there is the markings "G 19 Mil Spec 9x19", it should say Austria after the "G 19". On the backside of the slide there is the serial number which is on the ejector port aswell. On the frame there is the marking "MIL SPEC STANDARD NSN 1005-66-132-7731" that is the manufactire serial number. No markings but no big deal, this Glock makes up for it with the Heavy Weight frame.

Because the Glock 19 is a compact pistol, it uses a smaller magazine which has a capacity of 20 rounds, 3 less than the Glock 17. From a distance away, the Glock 19 is very hard to distinquish from the Glock 17, they look almost completely identical but a bit smaller in size. The Glock 17 is exactly 17mm longer than the Glock 19, but both pistols share the same caliber, 9x19 or 9mm. Weighing at 750g, the G19 is quite heavy for its size, most of the weight is from the Heavy Weight frame, the abs slide is quite light. It should be just a matter of time before a Glock 19 metal slide comes out.

Magazine Comparison

Comparing the G19 magazine with the G18C and G27, its obvious they are different lengths. The shortest G26/27 mag holds 15 rounds and has a magplate that acts as a grip. The G19 mag is the next one up, holding 20 rounds but lackss glock trademarks on the magazine. The third one is the G17/18C mag which 23 rounds. The Glock 19 is able to use every single KSC glock mag from the 20 round G19 mag to the 50 round Hi Capacity long mag. Which is great when you already own other KSC Glocks as you are able to interchange mags. Also every airsofter knows, spare mags for your pistol can be expensive.

The trigger safety is a mechanical safety which is incorporated into the trigger in the form of a lever. In the untouched state the trigger safety blocks the trigger from being moved backward. If the weapon is dropped or if the trigger is subjected to an off-center, lateral pressure, it is still impossible for the gun to fire. This safety can only be released by the trigger being pulled by the trigger finger. It automatically re-engages after the trigger is released. This situation offers maximum possible firing readiness combined with maximum safety for the user. This is a ingenious design that also contribibutes to the saying "keep your glock cocked" because if it isn't cocked then you wont be able to shoot it.
Trigger Safety

So how does it shoot? Very powerful, the light abs slide makes the gun cycle very fast while still having a strong kick to every shot. For testing I used green gas with the gun which just further improved power and cycling speeds. The blow back is compareable to the Glock 17/18C, very crisp. The internals are mostly metal and are identical to the Glock 17 internals. One great additon to the Glock 19 is the metal guide rod that comes standard with the gun. The recoil spring has the perfect spring constant, the slide returns to its original postition very smoothly.

While the Heavy Weight frame is quite heavy byitself, KSC has added some metal weights in the inside of the frame aswell. Upgrades for the Glock 19 have not been released yet, but there should be the usual upgrades available for it, metal slides and outer barrels, hi flow valves, strengthened recoil and hammer springs and tn barrels. The Glock 19 also accepts a wide variety of tactical lights and laser sights using the rail frame. The Glock 19 I'm using for the review has Lupo's Insight Technology M3 Tactical Light, which works perfectly for the G19. But it did require a little filing to make the M3 light fit properly as the wedge on the weaver rail wasn't long enough. The Glock 19 looks absolutely outstanding with the M3 light and it really gives it a very tactical look, with blinding capability for dark environments. This is not the replica one by G&P, its the real thing favoured by most law enforcement officers.

In my opinion the new Glock 19 is an outstanding pistol with great looks and high performance to match. I can't emphasize more about the heavy weight frame, it really makes this gun original and superior to all other glocks. It just feels very real to the hand and is very identical to the real steel. Although the Glock 19 costs a bit more than the G17 and G18C, the extra money is worth every penny. This gun is a great addition to the airsoft market and I hope KSC will continue to use these heavy weight frames in all of their future gas blow backs.

Overall the KSC Glock 19 is a ground breaking piece, with exceptional asthetics and heart pounding power, it has definately raised the level in which all other gbb's are judged by. The price of this pistol is very attractive especially for such an awesome gbb. The feel usually associated with Western Arms gas blow backs but at a fraction of the price. I highly recommend this gas blow back to any airsofter that appreciates a Glock. Evolution Airsoft still has a couple in stock, I suggest you grab them up quick before their sold out.
