KJ Works M9 Elite
KJ Works Beretta M9 & Elite FMJ

After releasing a very successful Glock 27, KJ Works of Taiwan has released their own version of the Beretta M9 & Elite gas blow back which internally are almost completely identical to the KSC M9's and Elite. But one thing makes the KJ Elite stand out from other GBB's, its Full Metal. KJ have studied consumer interestes and realized that a full metal gas blow back beretta would sure spice things, and they were right as the new full metal Elites are very hot in Hong Kong and Taiwan right now. The KJ Elite comes standard with a metal slide, frame and outer barrel; making the KJ Elite very realistic and heavy. Because of the lack of copyright laws in Taiwan, KJ is able to copy other manufacturer's pistols with near precision without having to worry about infringing upon copyright laws. This is apparent in the KJ Glock 27 which is basically identical to the Tokyo Marui Glock 26 in every part. Although KJ guns are cost efficient, it doesn't lack the basic things we look for in a good gas blow back: Reliability, Quality, Performance and Practicality.

KJ Elite with slide back

External: The Beretta Elite is basically a 9mm M9 with a brigadier slide and shortened outer barrel and KJ has faithfully reproduced this tactical pistol. The KJ Elite is one of the most realistic airsoft Beretta replicas I have ever seen. The metal slide, outer barrel and frame are finished with a matte grey, the rest of the metal parts are finished in a matte black. Because the gun is full metal, it weighs in at 870g but feels very solid and heavy in the hand. I really like the cold feeling when I hold on to this pistol, it adds a great deal of realism to the pistol. Metal parts include: slide, outer barrel, frame, safety, hammer, slide catch, disassembly lever, magazine, hop up chamber, front & rear sight. For a retail price of $399 CDN this is a bargain considering the full metal package.

KJ Works Elite Front Side

The KJ Elite share the same markings as the TM Tactical Master, on the front side there is the Elite logo with "TASK FORCES MODEL - FOR SPECIAL OPERATIONS" printed under it. On the back side there is another Elite logo, right under it is the marking " 92Brigadier -F- CAL 9 Parabellum". Right under the disassembly button are three manufature symbols which are on all real Berettas. Even though KJ can copy other airsoft manufacturers, they cannot openly use real steel trademarks like the Beretta logo, so they chose to create their own logo on the grip, it reads out KJ in a very sassy font. This is a small thing that reveals it's an airsoft gun, but when you're holding the gun, who can see it anyways? Another option would be to install a Hogue wrap around grip which makes the gun more comfortable and tactical looking.

The best thing I like about this pistol has to be metal body, I could have never imagined a full metal Beretta of any kind that would sell at such an attractive price. The amount of workmanship put into this pistol is just amazing, you would think something coming out of a Taiwan would be low quality and look all cheapy, but this gun totally proves that wrong. The metal slide cycles very smoothly and the slide and frame are cut with precision, there are no variations or bumps on the slide or frame at all. The only odd thing about this KJ Elite is that there are small dots on some parts of the slide that can be seen, this must have been a small painting variation when the guns were manufactured. The internals are almost all metal aswell, the hop up mechanism and guide rod are all metal, aswell as the part in which the loading nozzle shoots out from. By using metal as the predominant building material of this pistol we would expect it to last longer than most other gas blow backs which have numerous plastic parts that may break over time.

Slide Internals

As mentioned before, the KJ Elite is almost an exact replica of the KSC Elite, only a few things are different. Although the KJ Elite shares the same firing mechanism and valves as the KSC Elite, it does not have the trademark KSC hard-kick system which consists of a metal loading nozzle. Even with the lack of the hard-kick system the KJ Elite is very powerful, the slide kicks back hard and you could feel a small recoil. This gun can handle green or red gas easily, although long term use could ware out the o-rings and valves.

Upgrades: Upgrades for the KJ Elite are abondant with a variety of companies making after market parts. You can replace the standard metal outer barrel with a threaded metal outer barrel which would allow attachment of various silencers with the right adapters. This may effect the overall performance of the gun due to the extra weight on the outer barrel.

You can install the usual gas blow back pistol upgrade parts on the KJ Elite including: Hi Flow Valves, TN Barrels, Stronger Recoil Spring or Stronger Hammer Spring. Because the Elite does not have a weaver rail on the under side of the gun, if you wish to mount a laser sight or flashlight to this gun you will need a special mount. There are various laser sights that mount to the trigger guard of the Beretta and there is a weaver rail mount specifically designed for the Beretta.

Performance: After a few mags of testing, my results are very promising. I noticed no cool down effect at all after shooting a full mag. This could be because I'm using green gas mixed with red gas, duster could still run it but I think for a full metal gun it is best to use high power gas because duster probably wouldn't even cycle the slide all the way. I was able to maintain a 3 inch grouping from 15 feet, which is quite accurate.

I will now point out some down sides to the gun. Although a full metal pistol is very realistic, it makes it very easy to put scratches on the slide or frame of the gun during a skirmish, if you are a person who likes these scuff marks, thats fine, but for me I like to keep my guns looking top shape. Another flaw is that there are no markings on the front or rear sight, making it hard to aim quickly, but this can be easily fixed my painting some dots on the sights.

Overall the KJ Works M9 Elite is a great gun and an excellent value. The price for this gun is just unbelievable considering the full metal construction and performance of it. I definately recommend this gun to anyone looking for a reliable full metal gas blow back that is easy on the wallet. The external quality of this gun is just amazing and no other airsoft Beretta can compare, the full metal Sheriff Beretta's are very nice but the price isn't so practical. I find the gun fits perfectly in my hands and the and shape of the frame makes it a very attractive pistol with power to boast.. You can order the KJ Works Elite from Evolution Airsoft, they only got a few in stock so hurry up.
