New Tokyo Marui Type 89 5.56mm Electric Rifle
Tokyo Marui showed off a prototype of their newest AEG at the annual Japan Hobbyshow, the Type 89 5.56mm rifle used by the Japanese Ground Self Defence Force (J.G.S.D.F.). The new TM Type 89 features Marui's newly designed Version 8 mechbox and is capabale of 3 shot burst firing. Weighing in at 3.7kg, this is quite a hefty rifle out of the box. From looking at the pictures, I believe the reciever may infact be made of metal, if it is than that is great news and it is about time that TM started offering guns with metal recievers as a standard accessory. Like any TM gun, expect a ton of manufaturers to produce aftermarket parts and accessories for it.

Tokyo Marui Type 89 Specification Sheet

The real steel Type 89 rifle was originally developed by HOWA Machinery Co., Japan, for the National Defence Forces of Japan. The Type 89 rifle is a select-fire, gas-operated, rotating bolt firearm. The gas action and bolt group is somewhat similar to USA-designed AR-18 rifle, previously manufactured by HOWA under license from Armalite Co. (USA). The Type 89 rifle features a receiver made from stamped steel, polymer furniture and flip-up aperture rear sights. It also has lightweight folding bipod similar to the H&K G3 SG-1 rifle. New Systema High Performance Quattro Charger
Was just surfing Arnies Airsoft and spotted this new high performance charger from Systema designed for their Personal Training Weapon System. If you've ever used a Systema charger before then you'll know that they make good chargers and I'm sure this one will be no different. The new Systema Quattro charger will be available on July 1st and they are already accepting reservations. The design of this charger is quite unique, the entire unit looks like a heat sink and is probably quite good at relieving the extreme high heat generated when charging batteries. This charger will come in two flavours, red anc black with the black one being specifically for professional use. These pictures are of the prototype version but the finished product should look very similar.

A multitude of groundbreaking features

- Compatible with both Ni-Cd as well as Ni-MH Batteries
- Able to charge Battery Packs between 7.2V-12V
- Currents between AC100V-AC240V are allowed. Compatible with most countries household outlet currents.
- Capable of charging up to 4 battery packs. The batteries will be charged in sequence.
- After charging the battery, it automatically switches to a trickle charge.
- All operation is switchless. Easy operation by simply connecting the battery.
- Add to the amazing ease of use, this high performace charger is equivalent to chargers used in professional applications.
- Able to adjust to the various characteristics of every type of battery while charging.

Example of Charging Batteries in Sequence, Connection Sequence:

* Connect 7.2V / 2400mAh Ni-Cd battery pack in Channel 1
* Connect 8.4V / 3300mAh Ni-MH battery pack in Channel 2
* Connect 12V / 2400mAh Ni-Cd battery pack in Channel 3
* Connect 12V / 700mAh Ni-Cd battery pack in Channel 4

Recharging Channel 1 superceeds Channel 2 in the charging sequence. Once charging is completed the charger will switch to charge sequence Channel 3 then lastly Channel. As you would expect, it is possible to charge anywhere from 1 to 3 battery packs at any time. Kumi, (Systema Engineering)
